课程简介Description

应用系统变量是对参数化建筑与设计的入门课程,目标是掌握 Rhino5 及其插件 Grasshopper 的应用,并形成参数化设计的思维方式。课程将邀请多位嘉宾讲师,帮助加速学习过程的同时整体拓宽学生对当代设计的理解。

This course Variations of Applied Systems is an introduction to computational architecture and design, with special emphasis on Rhinoceros 5 and its plugin Grasshopper.Featuring a series of guest speakers, this course will help accelerate the student’s learning process while increasing overall breadth of knowledge in contemporary design.

设计是发现和解决问题的过程,策略的选择会决定设计的最终结果,参数化可以优化这一过程。通过我们的 workshop,希望能够帮助每一位面对设计的多重问题渴望另辟蹊径的设计师,并通过新科技新想法来塑造这一过程。

The design process is rooted in finding solutions to problems,whereby the choice of strategy itself defines the resulting design. This is also what computation can help to improve. It’s our wish that our workshop can be of assistance to anyone who is seeking alternative strategies toward solving various problems in design, and how to begin shaping that process through new technologies and new ideas.


Workshop 由三部分组成:Rhino 5; GH 和参数化; 应用系统变量。


The workshop will consist of three phases, each based on the following subjects: Rhino5; Grasshopper and Parametric Design; and Variations of Applied Systems.


Prerequisite: Students are required to be computer literate on Windows machine.

阶段1 Rhinoceros

Phase 1:Rhinoceros

课程将从软件培训开始,侧重学习 Rhino5 的基础和核心命令,此外,辅以世界著名建筑项目案例,学员将全面掌握从基础到高级的建模过程。注:“软件主导形体至上”的设计方法是一直以来颇具争论的话题,我们希望通过这次集中培训加深学员对参数化的理解,在今后的设计中能够将这套设计方法有效地应用在不同层面。

This phase of the workshop begins with a software tutorial on Rhinoceros 5 (Rhino), which will focus on all basic and essential commands. Students will then be guided through each stage of the software’s 3D modeling process to regenerate samples of world-renowned architectural projects. Note: Although there has been much debate regarding the excessive reliance on software-driven form-oriented design, for the purpose of this short intensive training session, it will provide students with a broader understanding of how to apply the tools effectively in various formats.

阶段2 Grasshopper 和参数化设计

Phase 2:Grasshopper and Parametric Design

第二阶段将进入GH 基础培训。与传统设计不同,参数化设计的本质基于算法,通过 GH 能够快速上手。掌握 GH 的基本工具和工作流程后,我们将进行一些世界著名建筑的建模练习,探索软件的核心概念,充分理解生成机制。

This phase begins with a basic tutorial on Grasshopper (GH),including training of its essential components. Unlike traditional design, parametric design is, by nature, based on algorithmic processes; this approach to design is made possible by GH. Once we have learned the fundamental tools and workflow of GH, we will continue with modeling exercises based on several world-renowned architectural projects. Finally, we will conclude Phase 2 with an exploration of the software’s essential concepts in order to fully understand its mechanism.

Phase 3:Variations of Applied Systems

第三阶段为开放讨论设计课,分小组设计不同类型及规模的项目,使学员能深入探索应用新技能。同时整合部分系统到一套完整的设计原则中,学习这些设置是如何在功能和美学上使设计发生变化的。由于时间有限,我们会选择性地涵盖进阶参数化设计涉及的话题。

Phase 3 of our workshop is designed to be a short studio session with an open-forum for discussion. The focus here will be on group projects of various scales in which students can start exploring and applying their new skills in depth. We will also be integrating several systems into a singular set of design rules and learn how such settings can generate variations in design, both functionally and aesthetically. Due to the limited amount of time that we have, we can only cover a few select topics in Advanced Computational Design.

  • 费用不含住宿。Accommodation fee is not included.
  • Workshop的时间表有可能根据特邀嘉宾的时间进行适当调整(i.g. Maya软件的教学时间为紫色)。The workshop schedule may be subject to change according to guest lecturer’s availability. ( i.g. Maya tutorial in purple )
  • 提高班的学员可以免费参加1月25日到1月28日集中班GH的培训课程。The classes held for the Intensive course are open to students from the Intermediate course during the period from 1.25 to 1.28 so they can ensure their basic skills in Grasshopper
  • 需要使用Windows系统。Prerequisite: Students are required to be computer literate on Windows machine.

21-day daytime regular course from Jan 11 to Feb 4

集中班 Intensive Course:
01.23-02.04 12天白班+晚班
12-day daytime and night intensive course from Jan 23 to Feb4

提高班 Intermediate Course:
01.16-02.04 10天周末白班课程
10-day daytime intermediate course mostly arranged for weekends during the period from Jan 16 to Feb 4

Founder and Principal Designer, Tuning Synesthesia; M.Arch. Pratt Institute, B.F.A Rikkyo University; Previous Work Experiences: Roy Co., MAD Ltd., THAD.
千枝专注于跨学科设计,涉及建筑学、计算机科学、文学、艺术和音乐等多种领域。曾在多所大学和设计事务所参与大量参数化设计研究及指导工作,并多次担任参数化设计讲座的演讲嘉宾。她的研究专注于已有系统及设计原型,积极地把参数化运用在本地及国际各类设计项目中。作为参数化设计顾问,千枝曾与多个事务所合作,她的作品跨越城市设计、建筑设计、幕墙优化、景观设计等多个领域,并涉足网络应用与网页设计,其中一些项目获得奖项。
Chie Fuyuki is a professional designer and the main founder of Tuning Synesthesia (TS)—an international collective of aspiring designers and engineers. The team provides services in master planning, architectural design, building skin standardization, landscape design, and web development. As specialized consultants in computational design, the team has collaborated on projects with many global and domestic firms, some of which have been awarded notable recognition.
Chie’s expertise extends to several areas in technology and creative design,including: architecture, computer science, literature, art, and music—all linked with the use of computation as a common denominator. It is this special focus that inspired the founding of Tuning Synesthesia. Now, as principal designer, she directs her team in specialized research of current existing systems and design prototypes for application in architecture and web development; as a result, several lectures and workshops have been successfully organized in recent years, and projects,both practical and academic, have blossomed under her leadership.。
